Your first ten minutes in the TradingView terminal
You don't need an account to look at a chart. Right after install the terminal opens as a guest, and every symbol, timeframe and drawing tool already works. What an account buys you is memory: saved layouts, watchlists that sync to your phone, alerts that fire while the app is closed. Poke around first; sign in once you've built something worth keeping.
Jump to any symbol by typing
Click the chart once, then just start typing — BTCUSD for crypto, AAPL for a stock. Symbol Search opens on the first keystroke; press Enter on the match and the chart loads. There's no button to hunt for, which is what makes it faster than the mouse once it's muscle memory. The results list shows the exchange beside each ticker, so when a name lists on three venues you pick the right one instead of guessing.
Timeframe, watchlist, one indicator
- Timeframe: the buttons sit in the top bar — 1m, 15m, 1h, 1D. Start on 1D to see the whole trend, then drop lower. More on picking one in choosing a timeframe.
- Watchlist: hit the + in the right-hand panel to pin the current symbol. Keep the list short — only things you actually track — see building a watchlist.
- Indicator: open the Indicators menu (fx icon, top bar), search RSI or Moving Average, click once. Done.
